Breast Health
Scientific breastfeeding studies have shown that pain during lactation or milk expression can discourage a mother from meeting her breastfeeding goals. It is also well known that discomfort can inhibit milk flow. [As one recent example, see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19011490 (J Perinat Neonatal Nurs. 2008 Oct-Dec;22(4):267-74.)]
Simply put, more comfortable breastmilk expression can promote better breast health for mom and more breastmilk for baby.
